*You need to restart magicprefs to access the new plugin after installing a app from the Mac App Store that includes a plugin. There is also a public API for the plugins, if you are a developer and you want to build a MagicPrefs plugin yourself.

Updating is handled automatically except for the ones that come with Mac App Store apps which update when you update their parent app.

Plugins are either bundled-in for free, can be downladed for free or come from paid applications in Mac App Store that can be used standalone but also instal identical functionality as a MagicPrefs plugin.

They run under a shared plugins host process which translates into more control for the user and less processes. Mice are not a one size fits all solution.

I've had to reference 4 or 5 docs over 3 apps while working on a layout, so being able to organize them all for maximum visibility is far from silly.Plugins are modular components that can extend the functionality of MagicPrefs, they can be enabled or disabled individually. Ended up finding a super simple answer myself for Windows 10 (Boot Camp) where the magic mouse was not working. For instance, if I'm proofing copy in an InDesign document against a word file or an email it's useful to be able to organize the two windows quickly such that they don't overlap and don't require me to click between then to see the content. But if I'm working on something that requires windows being open on multiple apps, then it's very useful. I don't have an issue with organizing the windows of ONE app. Just because you don't have a use for it doesn't make it silly. I use BetterTouchTool for its trackpad gestures.

(Double-clicking the titlebar is enough for me.) But that's just me and people can love a feature if they want. The love for such a silly feature (That BTW has been in Windows since the very beginning, but they're acting like it's a brand new feature just because it works differently now) to seems really really silly. The only apps where I might need to do it have this functionality built-in.

I don't use any window management tools because I never feel the need to tile my windows in any sort of way. The grid can be configured to be up to 10x10, but the box doesn't get any bigger so it's a bit small for my tastes.and cause I'm anal I went with 8x5 to match my screen ratio so the boxes would be squares. Additionally type 'defaults write noAutostart -bool YES' to manually prevent it. 2- Quit MagicPrefs by typing 'killall MagicPrefs' in Terminal.app and pressing return. For the half buttons you can drag and turn them into quarters, and for the grid it's just a basic click and drag. 1- Launch Terminal.app with Spotlight by pressing +Space, entering Terminal.app in it's search field, selecting it then press return to launch it. Basically you have the five main ones (fullscreen and half for each side of the screen) along with the grid underneath, along with a go back arrow that shows up after a resize/move. The video doesn't show the grid I think, but there's a fully functional demo (up to 100 "mooms" or something). its a winner for sure.Įdit: Oh, and I use BTT, but only because I've never had a reason to use something else, it does what I want. I'll have to watch the video to see how Mooms grid setup works, but if it allows me to add arbitrary buttons to the zoom key.

Divvy looks nice, but Moom looks better, if only because Divvy requires keyboard and mouse to use (or creation of shortcuts) while Moom make the zoom button useful.
